The Business and Life Philosophy of Kaizen

I 1st came across the notion of Kaizen when I worked at Canon UK, which of course is a Japanese corporation. It was the 1st time I had worked for a Japanese organisation and I was incredibly taken by the culture - the emphasis on extended term organizing, total excellent, and of course the work ethic.

What struck me most even though was the core underlying philosophy of Kaizen, which place into its simplest terms, signifies 'continuous development'. It signifies a concentrate on constantly searching for to increase every single element of a business, from processes and systems by means of to solution improvement and good quality. The notion is, if you aim to constantly and regularly increase every single portion of your business by smaller increments more than a extended period of time, then every single increment builds upon the subsequent, major more than time to a enormous boost in total top quality and efficiency.

Kaizen also implies an unwavering concentrate on enhancing the good quality of your merchandise and solutions. This total dedication to good quality and Kaizen is the cause why Japan nevertheless dominates the planet of manufacturing.

The irony is that it was essentially an American that exported this philosophy to the Japanese- a man by the name of William Edwards Deming. It was America's reluctance to adopt this philosophy, and Japan's wholehearted adoption of it that led to the latter overtaking the former. In the 1950's and later on Deming worked quite closely with the captains of Japanese market to enable revolutionise the way the corporations worked. Essentially now, the Deming Award is the most illustrious business award accessible in Japan, such is the contribution that he produced to their economy and society as a whole.

In my personal line of business, photography, I attempt to apply these principles to my personal firm, albeit on a tiny scale. We continuously seek to boost our technical and inventive photography abilities by means of coaching and practise. We continuously re-evaluate our workflow to see how we can make it a lot more effective, and of course, appear at methods in which we can business the business additional successfully. Consumer Service is however an additional region exactly where we seek to continuously increase what we provide to our clients.

I would wholeheartedly advocate Kaizen, not only as a business philosophy, but also a guiding principle to reside your life by. I would challenge you to see how you can adopt this philosophy in your business and life.
